The Spanish pageantry rocked after Miss España Organization (MEO) unofficially filed a bankruptcy last year. Major international pageant franchises were lost, including the Miss Earth franchise (now being held by Miss Venus Española International organization). Now it is officially that the MEO has lost the franchise of Miss Universe, effective this year.
Now the most awaited is the launching of Miss Universo España pageant, the new franchise holder and the responsible of sending Spanish delegate to Miss Universe pageant. The new pageant will be launched later this year, and the winner of this pageant will compete probably in Miss Universe 2013.
On the other hand, it is still unclear if Andrea Huisgen, the last Miss Universe Spain titleholder under the MEO, will represent Spain at Miss Universe 2012 to be held in December, although according to some reliable sources, Spain will not send a delegate this year.
However, the Miss España Organization still holds the franchise of Miss World, yet it is unsure if they will can retain the franchise until 2013.
